December Team Provides Medical Care to Many

January 28, 2010

A team of 8 missionaries traveled to Sierra Leone for a two-week period to administer much needed medical care to the children in the Wellington Orphanage. Dr. Sherry Barnett from Flower Mound organized the medical clinic which included over $70,000 of medicines donated to Revive Africa. The need for medical care was overwhelming at times, the conditions were hot and the days were long. However, it didn't stop the team from providing a thorough examination and diagnosis for each and every child and staff member. The team also served the most remote of villages in Sierra Leone. Their efforts in places where the situation seemed hopeless was something to see. Revive Africa wishes to personally thank Dr. Sherry, her husband Ben, Shay Girard, Meredith Taylor, Rasheal Winters, Shelby Theisner and Cassidy Shabay for their hard work and dedication.

Outside of their hard work, the team enjoyed a day at the beach, watching soccer games, going to market, and YES, Christmas in the orphanage. Unfortunately, the Christmas gifts did not arrive until 2 days after our departure but pictures are on the way. Thanks to everyone who participated. You are awesome!
